Thank you for visiting my site and considering me as a resource for mental health treatment. I am a general adult psychiatrist in private practice since 1997. I offer comprehensive psychiatric consultations, individual psychotherapy and medication management services. My offices are located in Chapel Hill, North Carolina less than a mile from the intersection of I-40 and 15-501.
I partner with clients in first understanding presenting concerns and then devising a mutually agreeable treatment plan. Patients are viewed holistically with attention to psychological, biological, environmental and spiritual aspects of current functioning. Many patients improve with individual (talk) psychotherapy, appropriate psychiatric medication where indicated, and additional recommendations tailored to meet individual patient needs. I am grounded in insight-oriented approaches to psychotherapy which promote personal growth and psychological well being.
I have additional expertise in the psychopharmacologic/biologic treatment of most psychiatric conditions. We will work toward options which aim to optimize benefits and minimize risks. For interested patients I offer psychiatric specific genetic testing. I have found this helpful in both medication selection and enhancing safety in regards to dosing and drug interactions. Integrative and other holistic treatment approaches are often recommended as part of a comprehensive treatment plan.
